“As a member of the Kades-Margolis’ family, I promote the ‘Financial Fitness’ and ‘Pre-Retirement’ workshops which our firm presents to every region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) twice yearly,” said Judy. “I constantly read, research, and design programs that will appeal to all age and experience levels within the educator community. I pass on my research and reading to the Kades-Margolis’ Financial Advisors, so that they too are up-to-date in their knowledge and skills. Increasingly, my focus has been on preparing financial plans for pre-retirees, helping them determine the quality of their life after their careers in education have ended.”
After graduating from Wilson College, Judy taught elementary classes in Philadelphia. She furthered her education at the University of California, obtaining a Master of Education Degree in Special Education, while working within a team-teaching program for EMR children. While raising her children, she began a personal study of real estate, which subsequently lead to a 20-year career in investment sales, leasing and management, and ownership of a national franchise real estate office.
Her interest in financial matters led to further study, and in 1987, she obtained the Certified Financial Planner designation. She earned a Master in Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Temple University, and is on the faculty of Temple’s Real Estate Institute.
After selling her business, Judy spent several years as an Investment Counselor in a regional bank brokerage division. In 2001, she joined Kades-Margolis as the Director of Financial Planning, with responsibility for the Financial Educational Services Inc. (FESI) programs offered throughout Pennsylvania.
Judy is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative of GWN Securities, Inc., an independent registered broker-dealer. She holds insurance licenses in life, health, accident and long term care. She also maintains her Pennsylvania Real Estate Broker’s license. Her financial studies have been rewarded with the designations CFP® (Certified Financial Planner), CFS (Certified Fund Specialist, CFMC (Certified Mutual Fund Counselor), and CSA (Certified Senior Advisor). Currently she is completing the course of study for the CDP (Certified Divorce Planner) designation.
When not working or studying, Judy can be found perfecting her golf game, fixing minor projects at her investment properties, or playing with her two grandsons. She enjoys theater, classical music, and her baby grand piano. True relaxation is a yard-sale or thrift shopping experience with her daughter and a golf outings with her son!
